It could be said that the metaphor of the window is a signficant one for painting and has played its role since the first hanging paintings, spatially bounded by a frame. However, when it is explicitly expressed, it is usually only as a frame enhancing the main motif. In this series of large-format paintings, the window is the central motif. The size of the paintings, close to architectural proportions, co-creates a suggestive expression and helps to draw the viewer into the pictorial space.
